Karate - A Way of LIFE

There is more to Karate than just fighting. Karate training involves not only physical exercises and techniques, but also the development of character. A person, who can fight well and wears a black belt, need not be a true karateka if he does not have a gentle spirit to go with his strength. For a true karateka, Karate becomes a way of life. That is what the “Do” (way) in “Karate Do” signifies. You as a beginner have to go a long way to understand this philosophy.

Here are a few points to you remember.

Karate - Art that combines Many Languages

Though the medium of instruction is English or Kannada, some Japanese words
are still used.

Karate - Training Procedure

Karate training involves three stages, namely: Kihon, Kata and Kumite. Kihon is the basic training in which a student has to learn various attaking movements like punch, open hand strike, kicks and also different blocking movements. This is like learning the alphabet before learning a new language. Later a combination of these punches, blocks and kicks are introduced to improve power, balance and co‐ordination in movements.
